SUBJECT SELECTION FORM TWO
3/ September/2017
Welcome note:

Every year at around this time in high schools in Uganda, students, parents and teachers  gather to analyze the importance of optional subjects at  disposal before making choices. The choices students make during this period will determine the quality of satisfaction they shall cerebrate or the dissatisfaction they shall regret in future.  It is therefore important that they are carefully guided well to  make our choices based more on their ability and less on their interest. Combinations selected now connect to combinations to be selected at ‘A’ Level as shown below  

A)     Some students may wish to do Engineering or Computer and Technology related courses at a later stage in higher institutions. These students can best prepare themselves by selecting from the following categories:

-          Literature or German
-          Music
-          Computer studies
1)      Technical Drawing + Metal Work
2)      Technical Drawing + Wood Work        __
3)      Technical Drawing + Commerce        
4)      Technical Drawing + Art
5)      Commerce + Clothing and Textile
Some of the subjects in the above combinations play a role in the subject combinations at ‘A’ Level as seen below:
i)                    Physics, Mathematics and Fine Art (PMArt)
ii)                  Physics, Mathematics and Technical Drawing (PMTD)
iii)                Physics, Mathematics and German (PMGer)

B) Some students may wish to do Business programs at a later stage in higher institutions. These students can best prepare themselves by selecting any of the following subject combinations now.
-          Literature, Luganda or German
-          Music
-          CRE

1)      Technical Drawing + Commerce        
2)      Technical Drawing + Fine Art
3)      Commerce + Accounts                               ________
4)      Commerce + Foods and Nutrition
5)      Commerce + CRE
6)      Commerce + Clothing and Textile
Some of the components of the above combinations play a role in the subject combinations leading you to Business Career paths include.
i)        Mathematics, Economics and Technical Drawing(METD)
ii)      Mathematics, Economics and Fine Art (MEArt)
iii)    Mathematics, Economics and Clothing and Textiles (MECT)
iv)    Mathematics, Economics and Entrepreneurship (MEEnt)
v)      History, Economics and Entrepreneurship (HEEnt)
vi)    History, Divinity and Entrepreneurship (HDEnt)
vii)  History, Divinity and Literature (HDLit)
viii)History, Divinity and Luganda (HDLug)
Etc.

C)     Some students may wish to do Medical or Health, Agricultural or Food related programs at a later stage in higher institutions. These students can best prepare themselves by selecting any of the following subject combinations.

-          Music
-          Computer Science
-          Literature
-          German

1)      Technical Drawing + Foods and Nutrition 
2)      Commerce + Foods and Nutrition                  _____
3)      Commerce + Clothing and Textiles
4)      Commerce + CRE
5)      Technical Drawing + Fine Art

N.B.
There are many conventional subject combinations which are not reflected in this write up. This is because they do not directly relate to today’s subject matter of discussion. However all combinations done at HSC are supported by the good grade obtained from subjected registered including the options.
